How can I prevent the ink from smudging on my Pearlescent inserts?
March, 9th 2010
If you've followed our advice under 'Inserts - Using Special Papers' but are still having problems with smudging, then try this top tip.
Allow the inserts to air dry and then give them a quick blitz with hairspray, at arms length. We used a cheap store brand and it acted as a sealant on the ink.
It's a good idea to do a test run first to make sure that your hairspray doesn't affect your ink or paper. Make sure your room is well ventilated and perhaps just do a few at a time!
(We also tried this on printed vellum (both plain and pearlescent) but the results weren't as impressive as the vellum tended to curl and still smudged slightly.)
